A major that lacks nearly 500,000 employees each year: The most essential in the market, salary increases rapidly according to qualifications, can be up to 47 million vnd/month.

In addition to quantity, the quality of human resources in this industry is also highly demanded by the market.

Severe labor shortage in the market

In recent years, the construction industry has faced many difficulties, including the widespread and worrying labor shortage. In the context of increasing demand for construction in Vietnam, the market is in need of a large number of skilled and trained personnel to speed up project progress and reduce dependence on foreign countries.

According to the assessment report on the quality of human resources in the construction industry by the Vietnam Construction Association, our country has more than 7 million workers working in the industry. However, this source of human resources has not yet met the needs of the market. Experts predict that the demand for human resources in the construction industry will increase by about 400,000 – 500,000 workers each year. The number of workers in the construction industry by 2030 could reach about 12-13 million people.

Not only is there a shortage in quantity, the quality of the current construction workforce also fails to meet market demand. Because most of them are short-term, unskilled workers, accounting for 75% (according to VNEconomy Electronic Magazine).

Also according to data from the Academy of Construction and Urban Management (Ministry of Construction), the number of workers with college and intermediate vocational qualifications accounts for only 11.8%; the number of high-level workers (level 6, 7) accounts for only about 7% of the construction workforce. The target by 2030 is that the proportion of trained construction workers will reach about 75%.

he current situation of “thirst” for human resources in the construction industry shows that the demand for recruiting workers in this industry is always high. Students studying this major have many good job opportunities, suitable for their expertise and high development opportunities.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Duong – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Project Management and Investment Joint Stock Company – CPMI, CO-Founder of GCD shared at the talk show “Studying Construction, sustainable future”: ”Currently, there is a shortage of human resources in the construction industry. Therefore, students studying Construction can rest assured that they will have a job after graduation”.
